Humpacks whales from august to october
- Humpback whales are coming to warm waters of Nosy Be to give birth and feed the babies.
- The Omura whales can be seen in Nosy Be bay from august to december
- Several species of dolphins are in the area Most of the time, but come closer to the coasts of Nosy Be for reproduction during the winter.
Malagasy law prohibits us from getting into the water with cetaceans, we can observe them from the boat on the way to dive sites with the greatest respect for the approach code.

Unlike other countries feeding whale sharks for tourist reasons, it is natural that whale sharks come to feed for almost 3 months in Nosy Be. When the rain season starts at the beginning of December, whale shark are leaving, the water is getting too muddy
Nosy Be is a hot spot for whale sharks: 400 whale sharks identified since 2015.
The observation is while snorkeling in surface because sharks do not like the noise of bubbles, it is rare to see them while scuba diving. It is on the way to the dive sites, during the surface interval or on the way back, that we can swim with.
It is not uncommon to also see manta rays and mobula rays on the same place, also searching for waters loaded with plankton.
